Hybrid working, Brighton based

Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 DOE

Permanent Role, 5 day working week (9-5pm)

A bit about us

Wild Dog Design is a digital design agency based in Brighton.  In business since 1996, the agency has gone through several stages of evolution as we have kept pace with technological developments and our clients’ changing business needs. In 2024 we are at new stage of the agency’s life: a new vision based around a strategic approach to design; a new proposition for our clients and prospects in the world of travel and sustainability; an innovative new SaaS product developed during the pandemic that can help us grow into new markets and scale around the world; new leadership to support the next phase of growth.

We are looking for a Digital Technical Project Manager  to help bring this vision to life through the technology we develop for our clients. Reporting directly to the Directors, this is a varied role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable helping to advise clients on technological solutions, collaborating with third parties, leading the team internally, whilst working on client projects.

In terms of Wild Dog’s services, we offer a unique custom WordPress solution for our clients, some with custom APIs to integrate native and third-party systems. We also create custom Laravel & React applications to solve unique challenges.

We have also developed our own SaaS product, with its own technical and strategic roadmap.

What you’ll be doing

You will play a pivotal role in aligning business needs, both internally and externally, with appropriate technical solutions.

A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to communication within the agency, involving senior management, creative teams, and development professionals. Externally, you will engage with clients to understand their concerns and requirements, shaping suitable technical solutions in collaboration with designers and developers.

In the project management aspect of the role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the final products align with the initial business requirements and adhere to the specified designs.

As an agency, it is a traditional fast-paced environment, working with a variety of industries such as Travel, Sustainability, B2B, so you’re not likely to get stuck or remain idle on a project for too long! We work on a variety of big and small projects so you will have the opportunity to see a project through from start to finish, as well as build upon previous work to expand the scale of projects over time.

In addition to client work, you will also have the chance to shape the current working format of our production lifecycle, implement learnings from your experience, and help us stay ahead of emerging trends in the industry.

You should be comfortable explaining technical concepts and solutions to audiences with varying levels of expertise, from novices to experienced professionals. Additionally, you should be confident in leading the process of gathering requirements, identifying gaps, and proposing potential solutions.

What we need from you

We need you to have at least 3 years of experience in the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Facilitating meetings and workshops to gather requirements and provide project updates
  • Gathering and documenting business requirements, as well creating functional specifications and technical documentation
  • Understanding technical concepts and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing client expectations and delivering solutions that meet their needs
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and senior management
  • Manage multiple projects, from initiation to completion, and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex technical and business problems
  • Explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Identifying potential solutions and making recommendations
  • Project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
  • Project management tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Software development life cycles and methodologies
  • Knowledge of relevant technologies and platforms (e.g., cloud services, databases, web development frameworks)

We would love it if you also have experience;

  • In leading and mentoring project teams
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to find innovative solutions
  • DevOps or developer experience
  • Managing/developing WordPress websites
  • Managing/developing custom SaaS products
  • Experience in overseeing the testing phase of projects
  • Familiarity with QA methodologies and tools
  • Ability to identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Experience in working with third-party vendors or service providers
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Technical certifications relevant to our technology stack (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, WordPress, PHP (Laravel), MySQL, React.js)

When applying, please highlight if you can meet any of these!
