Michael Hughes
Managing Director

Michael Hughes
Managing Director
Did
Ran a design & printing business out in the Far East, dealing with advertising and publishing agencies; created one of the first online adventure travel directories, before starting Wild Dog Design in 1996.
Does
A Managing Director that is still to be found at the coal face of design; never so happy as when in at the project brief, getting to understand the client’s needs and everyday thinks himself a lucky man to work with such creative and fun team of individuals that go to make up Wild Dog.
Loves
Dogs, photography, writing, architecture, design, auction houses, swimming, history, fancy dress, claret and, naturally, his family; and oh yes, dogs.
Is
Most likely to be striding out on the Downs trying to keep up with the dog, photography (hopefully in incredibly uncomfortable, but glamorous sounding locations from around the world) or designing and making (usually badly) something for the house that we don’t really need.
Believes
It is the greatest privilege to be entrusted to design projects for our clients.
It seems a pity that there are not more occasions when one can wear extravagant, self-designed hand made headdresses.
Stan Walker
Creative Director

Stan Walker

Does
As the Senior Designer, Stan’s responsible for ensuring everything looks beautiful and tip top and making sure everything leaving the studio looks like it should (no pressure).
Loves
Being outdoors and enjoying the countryside, usually up a rock face or under the sea, browsing the latest design journals for inspiration or simply searching the ski reports for the newest snowboarding destinations.
Is
Usually found climbing, snowboarding or diving. In that order.
Believes
In making things beautiful, and making things work, and…
In a favourite designers quote “work hard and be nice to people” Anthony Burril – from a lecture many moons ago at college, I even had the signed print at one point.
Tom Dunn
Director of Business Development

Tom Dunn
Director of Business Development
Did
Many years as a strategist and digital specialist, most recently as Head of Digital Strategy and Innovation at a top 10 media agency. A job that was combined with being a part time stay-at-home Dad, strategising the upbringing of two young girls.
Does
As in-house strategy bully, Tom works with the team and clients to make sure we’ve got the best possible brief and we know why we’re doing what we’re doing. And is helping to develop the agency for the next 21 years.
Loves
Listening to (and occasionally performing) early music, jazz, opera, either live or at home with a glass of something red and old.
A good bedtime story.
Is
Looking forward to the Brighton Marathon being over so normal service can resume (see above).
Unashamed to be the only person in the office who regularly uses Microsoft Office. A bit of PowerPoint never hurt anyone.
Believes
There’s too much tech-for-tech’s sake. Simple, beautiful and right wins every time.
Happiness is a shared taste in Scandi noir box sets.
In the Night Garden is the work of the devil.

The stuff that nobody sees, but everyone knows when it’s not there.

A good whiskey, a nice juicy steak, and a hearty fire.

Paul McCartney was the best Beatle.
Liz Squire

Liz Squire
Operations Director
Did
She’s done her bit for charity working for a digital media arts and film organisation, although that was in a past life as she’s now part of the Wild Dog furniture!
Does
Keeps all the clients happy and well fed, handles all the Wild Dog logistics and manages both digital and print projects. She knows where everything is so we don’t like it when she isn’t here.
Loves
Horses, horses, horses! She even has one of her own and occasionally has to get up at 5am to feed him. When she’s not on her horse you’ll find her whizzing along the seafront on her bike or paddle boarding around the West Pier.
Is
Most likely to be galloping with the wind in her hair on the South Downs.
Believes
Happy clients make for a happy life, and..
The same as Winston Churchill….There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.

Did
Back in Spain she used to work on websites mostly for the medical profession and after moving over to the UK – for the television industry.
Does
Implements designs and code into the lovely beast that is Joomla.
Loves
Loud and obnoxious music.
Is
Can often be found on all fours searching for that perfect angle of whatever freaky musician she’s photographing live at the many dingy Brighton venues even native Brightonians have never heard of.
Believes
Whenever you solve a problem you usually create one. You can only hope that the one you created is less critical than the one you eliminated. (Wiener’s Law no. 29), and…
Stanley Kubrick wasn’t the one who staged the Moon landing, he had a lot more attention to detail.

John-Paul Rowe
Production Director

John-Paul Rowe
Production Director
Did
From photographic roots, JP managed MFI Furniture Centre’s design studio and survived a three-year sentence in a traditional repro company. John-Paul was coaxed by the WD founder to make up the two-man team that was Wild Dog all those years ago – old skool!
Does
In addition to production, JP takes care of all things technical (we think he may actually be able to talk to computers). He also won the WD beard growing competition with his ‘action man’ style beard. Nice.
Loves
Creating anything for the web and playing guitar in his band to a pub full of people. Rock ‘n’ Roll (he has long hair and everything). You might even spot him sword fighting on a fencing piste.
Is
Most likely to say something which will have everyone in the studio rolling around on the floor – although we couldn’t possibly repeat it.
Believes
That replacing an ECC83 with a 12TU7 valve gives you a warmer tone and tames the power output of a Hotrod Deluxe. He gets a much better night’s sleep when the cat is on someone else’s bed.
