It sometimes feels like whole companies share the same interests and It makes me a bit jealous to hear about businesses closing their doors for a long weekend walking in the hills together, or having team trips to musicals.
I wondered why we aren’t like that at Wild Dog. Surely we’re not all just work work work?
In fact, we are quite a passionate bunch, and have a rich variety of interests outside of work. They’re just not the same as each other. We are made up of photographers, rock climbers, guitar players, skateboarders, film obsessives, jazz aficionados, nature-lovers, language students, horse-riders, open water swimmers, and fans of the Oxford Comma. Planning a night out to keep everyone happy just would not work. One of the only things that unites us is a fear of team-bonding staples such as paintballing and gokarting.
But earlier this year it got us thinking about passion and how that crossed over with travel. It seems that more and more people are taking their hobbies and interests on holiday with them. Visiting destinations where films, TV shows or books were set; crafting holidays around so they could pursue their hobbies whilst abroad, such as singing, dancing, writing, photography, or sports.
Meanwhile we saw companies being set up to cater for these passionate travellers. Or established companies start to offer products that wove passions into itineraries.
And we wanted to find out, what makes an enthusiast turn their passion into a holiday?
So we partnered with the clever people at Researchbods who helped us craft a qualitative research report, recruiting photographers, dancers, musicians, cyclists, wine connoisseurs, foodies, tennis players, and nature lovers for some in-depth interviews and a hearty dose of homework.
The results of which are in our brand new Passion Travel report. Which brought to life some fascinating insights into the link between passion and travel, how people research, plan their trips, who they travel with, what they get out of it, how they consume media when they are not travelling. And most importantly, what travel companies can learn.

They’d love to hear from you, and it will give them a break from searching for a suitable activity for the next Wild Dog away day.
