Highgate: website for a school that has embraced the new since 1565

How do you create a media-rich, responsive website for one of London’s most prestigious and established schools at the advent of responsive design?


Highgate School, founded in 1565, is one of London's most prestigious coeducational independent schools. The School has a long reputation for forward thinking and very quickly recognised that their target audience of parents and pupils were highly media savvy, heavy tablet and mobile users; and Highgate School proved early adopters of responsive website design, understanding fully it’s importance.

I think a big strength of Wild Dog’s from the beginning was you actually read our brief, listened to what we wanted to achieve and then interpreted that into a beautiful, viable design. Our approach:

Our creative approach was to adopt a highly visual, image-led site navigation; large, bright and inviting image-rich (including video) signposts to enable the user to intuitively navigate their way through the site. The site itself is fully responsive, using a core Joomla CMS; with custom-made developments including a calendar, school application forms which integrated seamlessly with their parent/student portal.
